Type of Dive:    Boat diving in very clear water with caves and swim throughs. On the north side of Hirtaon there is a massive cave that 12 divers can enjoy together without it being busy. There are play full seals in the many caves. The walls of the caves and walls are covered in life in all the colours of the rainbow. Take a good light, backup light and a camera. Link

Parking directions:     Lochaline - car park      Oban - end of pier  or leaving oban heading north on the steep hill to the right is a free car park takes 10 mins to walk back to the pier.                                 

Distance to harbour: 158 Nm from Oban,   The journey from Oban to St Kilda can be undertaken overnight in about 12 to 15 hours in fair to moderate conditions.

Other comments:        This has to be one of the top dive sites in the UK with the deepest kelp forests in Britain, lying 40 miles to the west of the Hebrides, St Kilda is an island group which consists of the Isles of Boreray, Soay, Dun and Hirta. It is the most important sea bird breeding station in North West Europe and is Britain's remotest inhabited islands and Scotland's first World Heritage Site.
