Tye's Tunnel
Type: Boat dive with a cave and Tunnel.

Travel directions: A1, turn off for Eyemouth on the A1107, 2 miles at a roundabout turn right to the ’New Harbour’ at the Dive Shop either park and walk over to the sea or drive up the track and park.
Dive Information: The boat drops you in a gully 2-3m deep and you head to the right facing the shore and there is a small hole just big enough for a diver. Yes you guessed it, head first down what can only be described as a chimney. The surge of water in the gully and the cave makes you go up and down in the chimney. The first time you do this its a bit scary but there is plenty room, you wont get stuck. At the bottom of the chimney you enter a cave, the floor is covered with bare rock and smooth stones and is 40m long, and the walls are covered with hydroids, squirts and sponges. As there is no silt in the cave you can get eight divers looking and taking pictures and no viz problems. When you leave the cave there are big car size boulders with lots of life growing on and under them. I put up my DSMB and finished my 12L cylinder in this area.

Dive Report : PeterM, Aug 07 Chris and I went through Tyes Tunnel this evening at St Abbs - my first time through there - great, give it a go - almost as good as the jump in at Dunbar.
Dive reports : David John Smith..... Tye's tunnel was a dive to remember. It was diving into a rather dark looking hole. This opened out into a spectacular cavern that went completely through the rock. The exit, bathed in sunlight and covered in soft corals and anemones, was just begging for a good photographer.
Dive reports : John Nicolson This is an amazing dive with the start going head first down a hole like a chimney and opening out into a cave covered in all sorts of things that crawl everywhere. Then you exit the cave onto an area with a wall and boulder slope, great dive.
