Wreck Information: The Rondo a 2363-ton Norwegian steamship was wrecked in 1935, it was sheltering from a storm when the anchor chain broke and the Rondo started to drift down the Sound of Mull, eventually being driven sideways across the small island of Dearg Sgir. It slid off the Island and now lies bow down in 50 metres on a steep slope with the stern in 6 metres. The ship is still reasonably intact and there is a route between the keel and the rock face at about 27m and another in about 14m.
Harbour / slip: RIBs can be launched from the nearby Loch aline pier. Or you can launch at Oban and steam up the sound of mull..
Travel & Parking directions: Lochaline follow the A82 Glasgow to Fort William road as far as the turnoff marked 'Corran Ferry', 8 miles south west of Fort William. As you leave the ferry, turn left onto the A861 following the signs for Strontian. Turn left off the A861 just before Strontian for the A884, signposted to Lochaline
Car Park Lochaline pier Oban - end of pier or leaving oban heading north on the steep hill to the right is a free car park takes 10 mins to walk back to the pier.
Distance from harbour: From Loch aline dive centre its a 9.2 km, ten min RIB ride to the wreck

Lat & Long: 56 32 275N / 05 54 666W WGS84 On the island of Deirg Sgeir.
Chart: Chart 2171, Sound of Mull and Approaches
Depth: 6m to 51m inside the bow and 50m outside on the sea bed at high water.
Tides: Slack water is one hour before high or low water Oban, It is not essential for diving the Rondo. Tides here can reach up to 2 knots on a high spring but you can dive right trough the ebb tide.

Dive Report: John Nicolson This is a great dive for the depth junkies, the top of the wreck is in 6m and the bottom is in 50m and there are two swim throughs. Because the rondo is lying against a rock island you can fin under it as well as inside it.
