SMS Koln
Type: Light Cruiser Dresden II class. She was built in Hamburg over 1915 and launched October 1916. She was scuttled by her crew on 21 June 1919, together with the entire German High Seas Fleet and sank at 1645 hrs.

Wreck Information : The Koln lies on its starboard side and is in good condition. The 6" guns on the port (22m) are pointing upwards and make a good picture.
Harbour / slip: Stromness
Travel directions: Northlinkferries 0845 6000 449. Photographic ID is required on the ferry now
Parking directions: In the car park opposite to the ferry car entrance.

Other comments: With bright sunlight this can be a stunning dive as its not to deep. I was told (and he was right) to do two dives on the the Koln the first going from bow to stern and get a feel for the wreck and the second drop straight to the sea bed and slowly ascend along the deck and keep in mind where the shot line is. If its dark its a good idea to put a strobe 2 m above the highest point of the wreck on the shot line so you dont have to use an SMB.
