Wreck Information: The Norwegian motor ship Taurus lies in the North Sea off the Scottish east coast village of Gourdon. It is almost intact. If weather conditions are good it is regarded as an "awesome" dive.
She was in convoy and carrying a cargo of ground nuts, palm kernels and cocoa when she was attacked by a German plane off Montrose. Three bombs detonated close to her causing a leak in the engine room and knocking out the vessel’s electrical installations. She began to sink by the stern and was listing heavily to port but the crew managed to send a Morse code signal requesting tug assistance. She was taken in tow by an escorting trawler, HMS Tarantella, and headed for the small port of Johnshaven but was attacked again by an aircraft which dropped three more bombs. With the weather worsening the 38-man crew took to lifeboats and the Taurus sank
Harbour / slip: Ferryden “Gravel beach all states” Stonehaven to the North or Montrose to the South, however expect a lengthy cruise out in what can be very exposed seas. If you are using a rib....it can be launched at Gourdon,

Dive Report: Choc star 22/8/09 she's lying upright on the seabed...lots of nets on her and the Bow is twisted 90deg to port....we only really got to the bows and the focsal...as the shot was a few metres away...and we had to do a wee search to find her..
