Wreck Information : SS Burnstone ex KILSYTH 2,340grt built by Craig, Taylor & Co, Stockton on Tees in 1903, owned and operated by Alexander Bros - Newcastle, On voyage with Coal from, or to, Immingham,..not sure yet will check Lloyds lists this week... Sunk by UB62 19-March 1918 by torpedo attack, 5 Crew died. KpLt Benhard Putzier was the skipper of UB62...he was also Skipper of UB22 who sank the Boyne Castle and Shakespeare in the same area in Feb 1917.
Deck is 48-46m Holds full of Coal and beginning to collapse, Bridge Structure collapsed onto the Boiler, triple expansion Engine still visible with gantrys and cat walks in place, Bow intact and upright with Anchors in place, holes in plating make her look like Justicia Bow. open focsle allowing swim throughs containing large earthenware jars and lots of odds and ends....this is where the Bell was found...Stern smashed and lying broken to starboard aft of the No4 hold bulkhead, on the seabed wreckage is a 20metres high old Trawl net floating almost vertically like a candle covered in soft Corals and sponges , not dangerous at all....broken mast to Starboard and other plating wreckage to Port. Seabed is rocky and pretty barren, any tide runs along the wreck. The larger swells could be felt down at 53m.

Dive Report: Stevie...12/9/08 Descending down the shot you could see the wreck from 20m in the inky blue colour found this far offshore...we found a 4 hold Steamship (holds full of Coal) sitting more or less upright and fairly intact, bridge Structure had collapsed so all i could see was a Rail and in the hold a Binnacle or Telegraph Plinth, the rest is buried under plate. Lots of Portholes again and shoals of Cod, Coley, several big Ling a huge Wolffish and the ever present Monster Lobsters and Crabs.
