Fram
Type: 2,760 grt, Swedish steamship built by Sir R. Dixon & Co. of Middlesbrough

Wreck Information: The SS Fram was at anchor in Aberdour Bay on the Moray Coast sheltering from a storm when torpedoed by the U-13 on 1 February 1940. The vessel split in half with the bow rapidly sinking at anchor. The stern section drifted west for half an hour before sinking 3km away. Ten crew members were lost.
The bow section remains at anchor, her forepeak pointing towards the surface and rising about 5m from the seabed. Two huge chains run out from her to anchors far out on the seabed. The rest of the bow section has collapsed with decking and wreckage lying on the seabed all around. A great site for sea life with Lobsters, Pollack, Cod, Saithe and Ling in abundance.
Distance from harbour: Can launch at Rosehearty slip 3.7km, it is the closest but launch and recovery can be extremely difficult at low tide, especially at springs. A better launch is from the slip at Sandhaven harbour 6.7km, parking is better here too.
Parking directions: Free parking available close to slip at both sites
